In a few short paragraphs, the Bible jumps from the Annunciation (when Mary learns she's pregnant with Jesus) to Jesus' birth at the Nativity. Most parents (especially the women!) would consider that short-changing the miracle and work of the nine months in between. What was Mary thinking during those nine months?
